Chery Jaguar Land Rover Changshu Plant is the first full-scale automobile manufacturing facility of Jaguar Land Rover outside of UK, and is established as one of the world's most advanced and efficient automobile manufacturing facilities. The plant has officially opened and commenced production and operation on 21st October 2014, covering an area of 810,000 square meters, with an annual production capacity of 130,000 vehicles in Phase I and increase 70,000 vehicles in Phase II.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover Lean System is strictly implemented throughout all internal operations and supplier selection procedures to ensure the strictest industry standards are applied. Shop boasts an automation rate of 90%, one of the highest rates among any similar facilities in the world. It possesses the world’s most advanced servo press line (maximum speed of 20 SPM, i.e. one part processed in every 3 seconds) and the fastest mechanical press line in China (maximum speed of 15 SPM, i.e. one part finished in every 4 seconds).
A total of 307 ABB robots are in service in the Body Shop. The average time to complete welding work for one car is just 120 seconds. A total of three different models can be processed simultaneously.
China’s first purpose-built aluminium body shop possesses world leading self-pierce riveting and adhesive joining technologies and equipment, with 340 robots and an automation ratio of 100%. And the total number of SPR robots is 251, the largest number of riveting robots owned by OEM in China.
The advanced RO-DIP system enhances overall cleanliness level while simultaneously almost eliminating wastewater discharge. The advanced Dry Scrubber Spray System allows 95% air recyclable and 60% energy saving using eco-friendly water-based paint.
Highly sophisticated dynamic strut movement and locating system technology, which is first created and used in China, allowing us outperform peer competitors. The advanced delivery system, ANDON system, VCATS electronic detection system and RFID vehicle tracking technology enable the Shop to strictly monitor and secure product quality.
Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s all-new engine plant covers an area of 51,000 m2; with initial capacity of 130,000 units. The all-new engine plant possesses highly flexible production line and 100% automation machining. It has realised in-house production of three core engine components: cylinder body, cylinder head and crankshaft.
The all-new engine plant has led Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s development into a new era through quality and intelligence, and contributed to “Made in China 2025” and the development of auto industry. Chery Jaguar Land Rover has realised comprehensive upgrade “from pure vehicle production to core parts and components production”.
