(July 21, 2017, Changshu) Today, Chery Jaguar Land Rover all-new engine plant is opened. As a role model of “quality and intelligence”, Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s Engine Plant has introduced top power technology of Jaguar Land Rover, committed to bringing consumers with product experience beyond their expectations. The initial capacity of the engine plant is 130,000 units. The all-new Ingenium 2.0L four-cylinder engine, the first product of the engine plant, will be applied to future vehicles of Chery Jaguar Land Rover.

Adopt quality and intelligent manufacturing to build a global flagship plant
Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s Engine Plant in-house manufactures cylinder, cylinder head and crankshaft, the three core components, with a rate of machining process automation as high as 100%. Its highly flexible production line can produce multiple different engine models at the same time. Machining and assembly processes apply the latest tray processing technology, which can efficiently complete the quick switch of mixed routing manufacturing.
With industrial internet, production has been enabled comprehensive intelligent traceability, tray intelligent chip recording full-process product processing information and uploading all processing data real-time to MES (manufacturing execution system) for analysis. In the process of machining, a set of precise tool is very important because it is directly related to the machining precision of parts. As the “digital manager” of tools, TMS automatic tool management system which is adopted in China for the first time, ensures tooling adjustment precision and supplementary warehousing efficiency, and fulfils whole-process monitoring of processing information.
Extreme pursuit for quality, Chery Jaguar Land Rover has been addicted to the most perfect details for every production and inspection steps. A “clean room” with constant temperature and humidity has adopted production standards that have been used for optical products and oral preparations. Through the positive pressure control, it minimises the impact of micro-dust and other pollutants on the quality of processing parts and avoid mental expansion with heat and contraction with cold, thereby ensures machining accuracy. Micron level professional machining tooling, coordinate measuring machines with the measurement precision thinner than 1% of a human hair, world first Mahr automatic roughness profile measuring instrument and many other industry leading professional processing and inspection equipment all featuring the most stringent micron precision. Besides, The engine plant uses a world consistent JLRQ vendor performance evaluation system, with ultra-high frequency tests and inspections comprehensively covering from raw materials to finished products and from the start to the very end of engine production.

Developed with cutting-edge technology of Jaguar Land Rover, the all-new Ingenium 2.0L four-cylinder engine will be the first product to be manufactured at Chery Jaguar Land Rover all-new engine plant. Ingenium is an ancient Latin word meaning intelligent, genius and innate talent, which perfect fit with the state-of-the-art engine plant of Jaguar Land Rover. With a comprehensively optimised outstanding performance and segment leading fuel economy, it has interpreted the latest avant-guard results of power technology of Jaguar Land Rover.
The all-new Ingenium 2.0L four-cylinder engine has adopted twin vortex tube turbocharger made with ceramic ball bearing technology, which helps the engine achieve high-torque output at low RPM with extremely sensitive response. Continuous variable valve lift technology further guarantees the combustion efficiency through optimising the intake at all rotating speeds, and ensures the maximum torque and power output at any time. The integrated exhaust manifold makes the engine preheated faster, and together with the 200bar direct injection system, it has improved fuel economy in an all-round way. With the comprehensively optimised and upgraded performance, excellent low-torque output, and leading emission and fuel consumption level in the industry, the new engine will bring customers with powerful and efficient driving experience.
Creating “shared value”, Chery Jaguar Land Rover entering a new era
The opening of the engine plant further enriches the significance of our long-term promise of “Shared Value”. Since its foundation in 2012, Chery Jaguar Land Rover has taken the lead in applying the highly intelligent Industrial Internet. This newly opened engine plant has prospectively interpreted the latest form of intelligent manufacturing to contribute to “Made in China 2025” and the development of auto industry. Chery Jaguar Land Rover has accomplished the significant upgrading from pure production of vehicles to the production of key parts & components, which has advanced its progress of localisation.
Committed to building a green demonstration, Chery Jaguar Land Rover’s engine plant has not only realised zero discharge of waste water, but also its water treatment standards are higher than irrigation water and disposed water is 100% reused for manufacturing processes. As a result, 435 tons of water can be saved every year. The engine plant also leverages a world leading cutting liquid recycling system to separate liquid and scraps, enabling reuse of cutting liquid. This advanced dry cutting technology, compared with conventional cutting method, can save about 75 tons of cutting liquid annually. Other than that, a series of electricity saving measures were taken to support the concept of green and environment protection. The usage of air conditioning in the workshops is controlled by a temperature and humidity monitoring system which monitors actual demands, thus saving 20% of the energy annually; the EMS monitors the usage of electricity in real time and analyse and optimises according the needs, avoiding unusual consumption of energy. The engine plant is going to build a photovoltaic power station on the rooftop to sufficiently reduce consumption of electrical energy and industrial carbon footprint.
Chery Jaguar Land Rover grows together with its employees. Two years before the official putting-into-production of this engine plant, we have sent our first group of 67 technicians to the UK engine plant of Jaguar Land Rover, and they went through comprehensive workflow training. At the same time, Chery Jaguar Land Rover has established a sustainable personnel training program through globalised training system of Jaguar Land Rover so that it can fulfil high-standard manufacturing with its high-level professionals.
