 (31 October 2023, Changshu) With a Range Rover Evoque L slowly rolling off the production line, Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automobile Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Chery Jaguar Land Rover”) has officially completed the production of its 500,000th vehicle, achieving the monumental milestone in the brands sustainable development on its journey from 0 to 500,000 units.

The Changshu plant is not only Jaguar Land Rover’s first vehicle manufacturing plant outside of the UK, but also a Jaguar Land Rover’s global flagship plant, equipped with world-advanced all-aluminium technology, all-vehicle lightweight technology, and a traceable supply chain to ensure quality of all parts and technology used.

Since its establishment in 2012, Chery Jaguar Land Rover has established and perfected a global management system with six pillars, namely R&D, procurement, manufacturing, quality, logistics and talent systems. These systems have supported Chery Jaguar Land Rover to achieve one milestone after another; the first domestic Range Rover Evoque rolled off the production line in 2014, China’s first purpose-built all-aluminium body shop went into production in 2016, the engine plant went into production in 2017, the design studio in Shanghai opened in 2018, and two new energy vehicles were put on the market in 2021.

As we continue to listen to the Voice of China, the long-wheelbase models Jaguar XEL, Jaguar XFL and Range Rover Evoque L, designed for the Chinese market, compliment the Jaguar XFL Golden Line Edition which was launched at this year’s Auto Show in Shanghai. In addition, the production plant has achieved outstanding results in low-carbon production and green environmental protection, including a year-on-year decrease in comprehensive energy consumption and industrial pollution emissions per unit of product, and a decrease in consumption of the major raw materials used per unit of product over the last three years, while also achieving a comprehensive utilisation rate of over 90% for industrial solid waste, etc. The Changshu production base of Chery Jaguar Land Rover has been awarded with many honours, including the “National Green Factory of the Year 2021” awarded by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology”.
